    Captured this little red-eyed grebe at the Salton Sea. Mid-afternoon light, moderate crop for composition. Before you say the bird is too centered, don't miss the fact that one leg is visible - extended behind the bird in the water. I didn't want to cut this off and adding room to the right didn't seem like a good idea. You may disagree. No really, go ahead!

    1D4, EF400mm f/5.6L
    Manual mode, f/7.1@1/1600 ISO 400 WB 4900K
    AI Servo autofocus, hand-held no flash

    Hi,

    Looks great to me - good sharpness, detail, low angle, eye contact. I personally would like to see a bit more room on the right and a bit less above the bird.

    Very pretty image--sharp, well exposed, beautiful water and background. Subject placement looks fine to me. Love those intense red eyes!
