Neal:
A big welcome to BPN. Sorry it took a bit to respond.
I think you will find it a great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer.
Your bird is sharp and well exposed, like the lichens on the perch, plays well with birds colors. Pleasant background.
I might consider burning in the rock just a bit, particularly the out of focus area on the left.
In a perfect world, would prefer the tail to not merge with the rock, but very minor issue.
Great eye.
Look forward to your future posts.
Please feel free to comment on others images. It is a great way to train your eye, and helps build the sense of community that we strive for.
Cheers
Randy

Good looking bird, sharp with good exposure. The BG is great. OOf rock has been addressed. And welcome Neal.

great first post. talk about 'starting with a bang'. What a bird...wow. details, head angle, BG, exposure...everything looks good. If mine, I'd go for a small crop from the bottom....above the watermark.

Lovely shot, I too would make the rock a little less bright. The shot is so good I would also consider cloning the rock beneath the tail in order to separate it.
