Big D800 Crop
Painted Bunting
Galveston Island, TX
D800, 600, ISO 640, f10, 1/250.
Here's one from today cropped from the smaller image. The D800 is insane.

I agree, an unbelievable camera.
How does it compare to your D4?
-
Unbelievable! Who needs a telephoto lens with that camera!

Dan, only had one day of shooting, not enough time with it to answer your question, but they are completely different cameras.

When a big crop has a different meaning. Amazing!!!!

Alan, yep....100% crop is quite stunning. details and no noise(any NR done on BG in the 100% crop?). Nikon definitely seems to have the edge in sensor technology right now.

Kaustubh, not a 100% crop, but quite a bit more I imagine. Slight gaussian blue on the BG.

very nice Alan but it is not surprising. D800 has the best overall image sensor on the market for sure.

Lots and lots of detail, great lens, great photography technique also

That is pretty remarkable. Even your signature is tack sharp! Seriously though, that is just an impressive result from such a big crop.
