I was out for a drive through a local swamp and found a few of these Swamp Sparrows singing back and forth and chasing each other out of territories

1/1250, f7.1, ISO 400. Canon 7D, 500 f4, handheld. Cropped for Composition and some sharpening.

Very nice one, Mike. Nicely lit and exposed, with a perfect pose and good bg. There were a bunch of these guys hopping around in my local marsh the other day, but I never could get a clear shot of one within range. I'll have to go back.

What a gorgeous little cheeky chappie! Never heard of a swamp sparrow before, beautiful light and excellent detail, you also have a complimentary background, a very pleasing shot.

I love Swamp Sparrows, and this one looks good. Perfect pose, subtly angled towards us. I wish the extra part on the perch wasn't there to block the toes and I would smooth out the lighter lines in the background. In a case like this I usually do not sharpen the lines in the wings as it often makes it seem too sharp there (compared to the rest of the body).

P.S. Bill, sometimes these guys respond well to audio...

Real nice shot. Great pose, nice perch, wonderful background, and great comp.
    Well done.
