From my Animals Standing Around collection, a mountain goat with a featureless white sky. At least the alpine grasses were nice. 7D, 1-400L, f6.3, 1/250s, ISO 800, +1.33 EC, monopod, a couple of small clones, slight crop off right as viewed.

Steve - nice exp on the goat and good detail coming through. I really like the colors of the alpine grasses and habitat. Maybe just a little NR on the bg.

Agree with some NR, but this is really nice photo. The goat looks terrific.

Very pretty. Like it all - except as you say, for the sky.
Like to see the foreground in such photos as sharp, or close to it as you have here.

Lovely exposure as mentioned on the Goat and great colours on the mountain, agree the sky is not ideal as well as the horizon going through the head of the goat, but this image still has appeal.

I really like this Steve, love the contrast of the subject/sky juxtapose to the rich tapestry of the alpine grasses. I also feel it's a departure to what we normally see. Good detail in the subject, nice POV - looking up, on a slight slant which adds interest, cropped well.

However... (Steve you know there would something ) now it might be my eye sight, but is there a slight halo of colour running along the skyline, which I think might be Chromatic Aberration? If so, it is easy to fix, however you would need to do this in PS or LR. Would welcome your thoughts to what it is, if anything Steve, or I could just be seeing things.

Thanks to all for the comments. NR noted, forgot to run it before postin gon this one.

    Steve,

Not only know, I expect it . It's not your eyes, a colored fringe is definitely there, though the posted version is greatly reduced from what I started with. Used the CA correction during conversion in DPP to tame it a bit, need to do a bit more in PS.

Like the pose, and colours in this image a lot, also your shooting angle adds to the shot. Agree with Brendon re the horizon line through head, but an excellent image for me.
    cheers

This has lots of appeal, Steve. The colours are very nice, and so is the fact that the goat pops so well from a similarly-coloured sky.
    CA mentioned.
The angle/POV here is what makes it for me.

    Steve,
A beautiful shot if ever I saw one, the minor technical nit does not in my view detract from the beauty of either the subject or the environment, the grasses are spectacular
