needed to "pan faster" and remember how tall their wings are fully extended!

Crop in LR, moved the bird down in PS, NIK Tonal Contrast at 50%, sharpening and NR on background

    Pat,

Greetings. Good looking flight shot. I like the detail & the slight separation at the tip of the beak. Blacks seem a bit too black to me... maybe back off on the contrast?

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Superb wing position, sharp and well exposed...I would try and bring out more details from Black.

Wonderful flight shot, Pat! Hard to get on these guys (at least for me). Great detail, IQ and BG. I feel like it's a tad cramped, might try adding more canvas above and in front.

Slightly tight at the top, but what a great flight image, Pat. THe partially open beak is a nice plus. Were you on a tripod or handholding?

Really like this flight shot. As others have said feels like it needs a bit more room at the top. I also find the green patch bottom left a little bit distracting but not much you could do about this.

Pat, incredible sharpness for a flight shot. It always nice to see so many details. Well done...not an easy one.

thank you for kind comments, I agree - definitely tighter than I wanted above and probably in front. This trip was great for Curlews - have never experienced them as patient and willing to let us get close as these were - Melissa, if you come to the west coast - try Morro Bay - I hear this time of year, and then in August or so - are supposed to be great.

I was focusing on trying not to burn the whites, (seems like i am doing that with Tonal Contrast) - and didn't pay attention to the blacks. thank you Michael and Sachim for pointing that out... I'll see what I can do.

Grace - this was on the tripod --- I am klutzier on tripods than hand held so I was really happy to be able to track it somewhat when it took off...

Mat, I could try desaturating/lightening that lower green a bit and see how it goes. thanks!

I just love this. Tack sharp and great IQ on the feathers. I am OK with the blacks.I love the BG and the slightly open beak. Just add a bit more room up top and this is a keeper for sure,
    Gail

Agree with the above tight comments. Just a little more on the top would work for me. Beautiful under wing detail and great timing. Nice work.

Delightful! What a bird! The colors pop, and you did a whizbang job stopping this c. in his tracks! Or, her tracks? I don't know from these birds

I too would prefer to see the subject lower in the frame but excellent details, good pose, and a nice background.
