Default young King Eider, happy on the waterways

    Hello folks,
I'm sure many of you can relate to the idea of using and then overusing a new toy. This is how I feel about vignetting, these days. However, with this shot, I do believe the vignetting works. Perhaps you'll tell me how you feel? Otherwise, the shot is pretty much untouched...
Many thanks for your consideration; your time is appreciated by y.t.

Jack, Nice pose and I think that you are right the vignette works well here. I like the natural look to it also. I wish the eye had just a bit more life. Sharp and the water drops are great!

Jack, you're right - the vignette really adds to this image. I love the pose and the water drops. Nice work

Denise, thank you for your smart comments. I like the slightly less-than-alive eye b/c it reminds me of living taxidermy or some such foolishness. I can't help myself. Obviously I also see your point, which is sensible, to be sure. Cheryl, thank you also, most sincerely. Huzzah to us all

hey Jack, I really like the way the vignetting adds to this - it looks somehow vintage (maybe that is an echo of your living taxidermy idea) and awesome.

Thanks Pat. You flatter me! That was my intention...I'll get sick of the vignetting soon, I'm already overusing it, but on pictures like this one I do believe it actually strengthens the image. I think! Really, thanks kindly for your comments which have brought a smile! PS It's wonderful that you live in a place called LOS GATOS, by the way. Here in Ontario all our places have lousy names. I would prefer Los Pájaros but I'll take Los Gatos any day...

What'ya mean lousy...lolol...I live in Bell's Corners, named after Hugo Bell a tavern owner, and proud of it.

I have tried 3 times to photograph this yearling Eider, always out of range. Nice work with vignetting. Maybe a touch of sharpening around the eye.

Oh Paul, I'm a self-hating Torontonian, so don't listen to me...plenty of fine town names in Ontario...but can you imagine living in a town called THE CATS?!
