First outing with my new D300, very excited and pleased so far with this camera (upgraded from my beloved D70). Not sure if the HAP will cite me for this image, I like the color and eye level angle.

    Brand spanking new D300, 70-300 VR-II @ 300mm, f/5.6, 1/1250 sec, 0EV, Shutter priority.

Thanks for looking and be well.

The light is beautiful and I like the trailing crest on his head as well as the pointed toes. Good luck with your new camera.

Real nice light on this bird, but I might desaturate the red channel on just the face. It looks bright compared to the rest of the image, but still has detail so it should be easy to do.

A moment earlier would have been nice as it would have helped with the shadow by the wing. Still, very nice as presented.

Love that beautiful Nikon blue bg !!!! Big Congrats on your new addition You will like it !!!!

Excellent exposure and sun angle Should have made just a second earlier so the bird would not be going slightly away ... btw HAP will give you a break ... but with a slight head turn it would seem the bird was not past you .

Nothing you can do about the head angle but just shows how powerful it is !!!!

Beautiful light, pose , sharp detail and exposure. HAP citation applies though. Still, a very nice image.

D70 to D300?? You must be loving life right now! That's one heck of a leap. Very sharp image, and I like the composition and wing position... but I'll echo Linda and say that you've been cited by the HAP.
