Dumay,
This is very nice indeed!!
Great detail and great light FG is not bad either.
Just in case anybody else says something about the eyes, I would just like to say they are nearly always impossible to see clearly as a result of hair.
F57.1![]()
Nicely detailed and really pops off the screen.
Hi Dumay, like the low angle POV, fine detail and the stance. Not 100% on the FG treatment and wonder if the rear leg (to view) is partially covered by the BKG mask, thought there would be a fraction more detail in there, albeit a tad soft due to DOF.

Thanks guys f7.1![]()
Dumay - nice pov and dof with good detail. He certainly does pop from the screen. Well done!

Rachel
Steve I added a bit of canvas bottom and left but no masking was done. I am posting cropped unedited version. I would be interested to see if what you see is in the original, or if what I had done affected the leg...Thanks as always for your valued input!

Hi Dumay, obviously there has been some NR or 'blurring' to the FG when you compare the two and perhaps to the BKG to give it that silky, smooth look. In doing so, you would need to create a mask to protect the subject, well in the workflow I might use, you may choose to do things differently, hence my initial question. As it has happened here before, where someone hasn't quite gone over the required area to reveal it, ie the rear part of the leg, but this is clearly DOF in this case.
The additional 'bolt-ons' if you know what I mean, are only cosmetic so we can park that if I may. Personally I might have left the FG as is, albeit with the 'bolt-ons' and may, subject to if it needed it, apply any 'blurring/NR to the BKG. For me the FG in the 'unedited version' has more merit and looks real. Therefore, perhaps having the BKG and warthog from the OP and the FG unedited with the amendments combined?
This is only my thoughts and views and all are down to personal taste, but it's good to discuss this,as it is a Critique forum. I have changed certainly parts of my workflow as few already know to incorporate some of my thoughts, but again personal choice.
Hope this helps Dumay.
cheers
Steve

Dumay,
Whatever you did certainly had no effect on the "blurred" legs as they to me at least there is no difference between the images. I think that extra foreground was not really necessary in this case, as you have plenty of room for the feet.
Whatever the "technical" aspects this is still a mighty fine image.
Thanks guys...Steve I see what you are saying i will definitely look for that in the future. Agree that this is crit forum and thats why I like it here. We are all always learning!

KIller one Dumay. Brilliant pose and excellent details.
Love the details Dumay. He sure does pop off the screen.

Love the low angle here Dumay. Nicely exposed too. I presume you were "belly-flopped" for this one??
I see what Steve was seeing on the leg but it does seem it's just DOF combined with the OOF grass colour - at least to my eyes.
I am curious - did you indeed apply some blurring to the BG?
It's indeed great to have you back participating.![]()
Thanks mate...No bluring of the BG was done at all just a single round of week NR. Appreciate the feedback
I agree with others - this image really jumps off the screen - about as close to 3D as your going to get with a 2D image.
