    Dollarbird
    The Spit Nature Reserve, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
    This high perch, the top of a dead tree provided a good lookout for flying insects.
    I had to get of the track and venture into the low scrub to get close. I was always on the lookout for the deadly brown snakes that love this area. Thankfully I did not see any on this occasion.

    Very unique perch you have got him here !! I think the other name for this bird is 'broad billed Roller ' . Like the open mouth too .

    Hi Peter, well timed to capture the open beak, and a good view of it too. I like the transition of colours from the head down to the chest. Could you have moved to your left to maybe show the whole bird.
