Another image from Artie's SW IPT this year. Taken at Venice Rookery.
It is such a treat for a northerner like me to be able to photograph these relatively tame GBH. Here in NS, just rolling the window down in the car will make them take off away from me.

    SS 1/1600
    f 4.0
    ISO 800
Almost full frame. I took about 5% off the LHS and added 5% on the RHS.
Cloned a branch that was intersecting neck.
PP in LR3 and CS5 and used very minor amount of tonal contrast (~ 6% shadows and 2% highlight sliders)on the bird

Nice soft light and a nice image. Image design and framing perfect. My only wish is that the wind had been a teench more from the south so that the bird was not looking slightly away from you....

Love the light, pose and the fact that you have a pretty clear view on the feet. Slight HA adjustment would make it perfect!

Agree with comments above. The light is stunning and like the raised wings. Glad to see both feet as well.

Hi Gail, sweet, sweet light, which in turn has brought out the warm colours on the heron. Love the feather detail from the raised underwing, and overall tack sharp.

I hope you got the next few frames with the take off.

Hi Gail! See, I'm back! I like the frame of blue that goes across the top and down the right side. Tons of room for him/her to jump into. That was a great trip!
