I really like the image. The pose is great and the sharpness is good and the food item is great face first. The light is nice and soft.

Wish the post was a nice branch though!

The Kingfisher is a nemesis of mine so I always appreciate an image. All is good with this one...including the fish. It's always nice to have a natural perch but I normally see them on wood stakes at a fish hatchery so he seems right at home to me. Well done.

Hi Robert and Lana, thanks for the comments.
This shot was taken at a place where there were 5 or 6 kingfishers. They all had a sort of route: tree, reeds, a metal tube used to drain water (and fish, btw) from flooded camps, and this post. Unfortunately, there was no way to get this close to either the tree or the reeds, so the best shots all came from this post. With a long history of failures photographing kingfishers, I'm happy with this shots, but I agree, a nice branch above the water would have been nicer!

Really well done on the composition for this guy. I generally like darker images than most, but this one is too dark even for me. Maybe some selective brightening of just the bird would be in order? Since nobody else has mentioned it though, maybe I'm in the minority.
