    Ken,

Interesting shot of the cycle of life. I would crop from the top a small layer too much negative space and the eye moves off the action. The image is a bit soft, opportunities to improve could be use a tripod and or increase the shutter speed. The ISO is low here and as you might know when you double the ISO you gain a stop of light - hence ISO 400 = 1/320 which is better for capturing motion especially HH.

How large was the crop, this could also retard IQ and produce images that lack critical detail. Keep posting, sharing and you will continue to improve,..KEEP EM COMING!!

    Ken,

Very nice image and well composed.

Here are few things I would consider.

    1. From well lit left side of the neck I guess light is coming from the side. I guess not an ideal shooting direction but considering the light direction you did pretty well getting subject perfectly parallel to sensor plane.

    2. Light reflection on the surface is little distracting and I would for for a tighter crop to maximize attention to the subject. Also "s" curve of the neck and blue eye attracts more attention with tighter crop. Since subject is more oriented in vertical plane I would choose a vertical crop.

    3. I would also lighten the fish a bit to give more attention.

Here is my version. Let me know what you think

Ken, good comments and advice above. As for Sid's repost - bingo! Before I scrolled down to see the vertical crop I was going to say "I think it would work better as a vertical"... I think it does, good crop Sid.
