Sid, killer wing position and plumage. On the fence about the BG result.

Love the bird, but the BG has a bit too much blur applied. It looks artificial, kind of like a cut and paste job.

    Alan and Doug,

I guess I went too far with blurr :)

    Thanks for the critique.

Hey Sid, bird looks awesome but the BG kind of looks artificial, I could tell something was going on before reading your description.

Can you pose the original for a comparison?

The bird looks great, Sid. I agree that the bg looks artificial and really worked over. I can see jpeg banding also. Back to the drawing board, if it were me.

Hi, Sid. This really pops! I do agree with the others on the BG processing; I see that you do as well :-)

    Cheers,

Sid, I agree that the blur is a little over-the-top, but I'd certainly hold onto this version as well...there's a pleasant otherworldliness to the image as-is. The spoonbill looks terrific.

Good comments above re. the BG, but still a compelling image. Great wing position; dramatic colors.

I really like this. The wing spread is awesome. I am OK with the BG. What is JPEG banding?

I like the repost quite a bit better, Sid. The OP never looked quite right. Great extended wing position on this spoonie and the water droplets are a plus.

The additional sharpening on the bird also helps. Nicely done.

repost much better. Gaussian blur doesn't work most of the time IMO because the blur from lens bokeh is not Gaussian.

    well done!

Sid, agree with others. nothing wrong with the orig BG. Its blurred enough, I'd say. Loved the dynamic wing position, angle and the colors. those droplets as well.
