It's cosmos season around here again...but this year's blooming has been very subdued due to less-than-ideal rainfall over the summer.

Here's an image from March last year at a meadow I like to visit. Maybe I will get to shoot there later this week - waiting on good skies as that is also rare these days...

    Techs:
    Canon 7D with 10-22mm USM @ 10mm
    f16 @ ISO-100
2 exposures blended using luminosity masks.

Very pretty indeed. I like the depth to this one...all those lovely pinks and whites under the blues and whites...most appealing. Morkel, how do you like the 10-22 lens? I have a 7D as well and am seriously considering it...

Thanks Jack. I was pretty happy with the 10-22mm...most reviews state bluntly that the only reason this lens is not designated with an "L" is because it's an EF-S mount. The sharpness is great and distortion is easy to control using LR/PS. For a crop camera, it's the best Canon option IMHO. I have not shot with the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 but hear it's nearly as good (and certainly a cheaper option). If you're tempted for the latter I would say try and rent both and test them out. I just prefer using Canon glass on Canon and Nikon glass on Nikon.

It gives you an effective 16-35mm FOV on the 7D, which is equivalent to using the 16-35mm on a 5Dmk2, except you don't have f2.8 right through the barrel.

Beautiful, Morkel, many thanks for the extra information. I think I'll purchase the lens when the dollars are there. I'm a fan of your work and would love to see other shots of yours with the same lens...can you direct me to any such shots?

Mork, it is lovely; happy Easter. Consider cropping up to the first white daisy oh th LHS to do away with the dark stems and give more emphasis to the sky.
    Cheers, Jay

Morkel, I really like this one. Simple but very effective. I find that I don't use my UWA (I have the Sigma) as much as I should. When you have that very nice foreground, it really adds an exciting touch drawing you into the image.

Good use of this lens, FG compositional interest and DOF to add depth to this image.

I might try a tad less cyan in the sky to see how it looks Morkel.

Hi Morkel, quite nice. Love the field of blossoms, but really like the cloud just above the flowers. Nicely seen!
