Default One more R.B. Gull for your viewing pleasure?

Folks, here's an image from the other day. It troubles me. Which is to say: I like it, I like the feel & spirit of it, but don't know really how best to crop or compose it? Would welcome your ideas and opinions with open arms. Many thanks for your consideration...

Jack, if it were mine to crop, this is how I would crop this but there are probably any number of ways..this is just mine with a Topaz spicify effect. Nice wing position...gotta love gulls, when there's nothing else around they always put in a show.

Jack, I like the artsy look to this one. I think that the soft contrast works well for the color tones. Paul's crop suggestion is also good, if I were to stick with your crop I might be tempted to take a slice off the top.

I really like the soft look to this with the pastel colors to the water. The pose and reflection are beautiful. I would sharpen the gull's head a little. Personally, I like the openness of your crop which I think adds to the feel of the image. If I were to crop it, I would probably go with a vertical crop, but with more room than Paul's crop.

    Jack,

Greetings. From the thumbnail I thought it was the Easter Bunny!

Tough to balance enough focus with blur ... close call here (for me). I'd leave the loose crop... agree with a little off the top.

    Like the tone a lot.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Many thanks folks...at 1/200 I knew the shot would be somewhat blurred...I think a selective sharpening of the bird's face might do the trick...thanks for your suggestions...

Hi Jack, another nice gull image..I do prefer Paul's crop. The vertical seems to just work better for me.

Hi Jack! I vote for the vertical crop and the spicify effect that paul contributed looks great to my eye

What a wonderful capture. Lovely colors in the water, so soft and dreamy looking. I too, would prefer more of of crop, but at what expense? I'm not sure. I almost would say leave it as is.
