You've got that right Ian. They seem to be everywhere! But I like them just the same.
Despite the harsh light you have nice detail in both dark and light tones. Well done. That face patch is so easy to burn out. The image is beautifully sharp and I like the clean, still water (I'd remove that dust speck down from the bird's head). The only thing I would change here is to give the bird more room especially at the top and maybe a little to the right.
Thanks for commenting, John. Yes, we have zillions of these guys, so I rarely shoot them (if that makes sense). I found they are more challenging than they seem to get a good looking image. How's this? I added a bit of real estate on top and RHS as you suggested.
