Default Green Bee-Eater-Up close & personal

    Camera Canon EOS 7D
    Exposure 0.002 sec (1/640)
    Aperture f/9.0
    Focal Length 380 mm
    ISO Speed 400
    Exposure Bias 0 EV
    Flash Off, Did not fire
    Hand-held with the 100-400 L lens
Its not the best of composition, but I had to opportunity to be real close to this fella and the light was good! It felt like I was shooting macro!

Way cool getting so close. Looks a bit bright and contrasty. I like the image design but for the dark area upper left. In an ideal world being on a tripod at 1/160 at about f/18 might have sharpened up the feathers of the body.

Certainly a nice close study but does need to be all in focus, including the beak tip. If you are steady, you can hand hold the 100-400 at speeds down to 1/80 and get a sharp result.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions, Art and Colin. I agree its a bit contrasty. Will be more careful in my PP. I am learning PS and must admit there is a huge learning curve
