Hello again, fine folks...I'm posting this shot, taken by y.t. all the way back in June of last year b/c I'd like your opinions on it...before I joined this forum I never for a heartbeat would have thought: "this one's good but it would be better if his head wasn't touching the far wing"?!?! Certainly there are some nice elements here but I wonder if folks are bothered by the head/wing connection. No jokes. Please share your thoughts with me, o fine wandering captains of the alar!
As I said, this one was taken a while ago, before I fell sullenly into Canon's arms...this g. egret was snapped with the Nikon D90 and 70-300VR at 180mm, f8, 1/1000, iso200. If I were shooting the same shot today I'd up the iso and shutter speed...live and learn...
One other thing: I like the stick's shadows on the e's neck. Would you clone them away?
Many thanks for your consideration!
This is nice Jack. Good IQ and the neck/wing merge doesn't bother me at all. I am not crazy about the shooting angle and I feel like I am craning my neck when I look at the picture. Sounds like a stupid thing to say when this is what the real life situation was...I think if the wing spread was exactly symmetrical it would have been a better image and the shooting angle could be ignored.
Gail
Hi Gail, it doesn't sound stupid at all. I don't see it (and I'll count myself lucky there) but I think it's a fair and valid point. Thank you for chiming in, it's much appreciated.
