There have been quite a few interesting ungulate and antelope posts of late, so I thought I'd dig one up too...

These antelopes are hard to photograph properly as they prefer hanging around in dense riverine forests and semi-rainforest terrain in Southern Africa.

This young bull was photographed back in 2009 in the far northern Pafuri region of the Kruger National Park, South Africa. This is one of the best regions in Southern Africa to get close to these graceful creatures.

    Techs:
    Nikon D300s with Nikkor 200-400mm f4 VR
    f4.0 @ 1/1000 SS @ ISO-400
I know there's no space for virtual legs...I feel it works as is - curious to know if there are other crop suggestions?
    Pretty much full frame.

Hi Morkel, a very delicate image with some extremely fine detail in the shot, but blacks are solid. Not sure if another 100px would help in the presentation to 800h.

Think a Curves Lumo mask (one for whites, one for blacks) with a Levels adj built in to each layer, just adds a hint more definition in the body, but a subtle adjustment in keeping with the image. Re crop, not much you can do, this is a straight 3x2. Couldn't resist a little pruning.

Sweet image of a shy animal, nice one.

    Morkel,

These are beauties and in this case even more so when he grows up. As you say often hard to find !
Missing amount of feet is at best miniscule so does not bother me, prefer the OP as it has more natural colour.

Morkel - with the log blocking them I don't feel the missing feet are as much of an issue. I like what Steve has done, especially the pruning as I thought that one branch in the ulc was annoying.

Hi Rachel, please note, no physical colour change has happened, only the the B&W tone value in Curves has been increased to add a fraction more definition, about a 5% half-tone. Obviously slightly cropping from a small file has given rise to IQ loss, but as it's only a suggestion as Morkel canvased for thoughts, I am sure he won't mind. On a larger screen Morkel, just watch the whites in the coat, looks like a slight green hint coming through.

Would have been hugely better if the original had been used, sadly upping in size too on the RP has not helped this, sorry matey.

BTW Did you receive a large file yet?????
