Default Full Frame Willet: Pushing the limits!

Here is a willet bank shot from Sunday evening. The willets were having fun with tail wind bulleting around really fast. When they catch tail wind it's not really possible to swing the rig at 700mm fast enough to follow them at close range. So what I did is I watched them and tried to anticipate point of interception and raised the lens quickly to my line of sight firing off 3-4 frames at a time. I was able to catch this guy at close range for maximum detail rendition.

i like the full frame shot or something between.
The technique is just over the top, I don't know how you do this stuff.
The OP is a bit too much vertical for me, I think a horizontal crop of the out of camera would look nice.

Dead centre. Not quite sure how you acquired focus that fast, even if prefocussed but will give it a try, on something much slower and on a tripod. Thanks for including your technique. Lovely photo.

I love the PP work done on this shot. It seems to have brought out a glow on the brown plumage. Tack sharp and awesome technical skill.

not much done in PhotoShop steps are:

    1) RAW conversion DPP
    2) select subject, apply NR to BG
    3) increase saturation +5, slight curve adjustment
    4) crop, re-size and output sharpening.
