Kerry, this is a beautiful image. You really got great lighting. Photographing birds with black and white plumage is not easy, but you really pulled this off. In addition, the water is very pleasant. (You have given me second thoughts now about posting an image of a wood duck that I captured this morning). Have any idea how close you were to this bird and how much you cropped it? Were you behind a bird blind? It appears that you must have been pretty close.

Thanks guys! Ron, I was (according to the exif data) 37ft from the bird. The crop is about 50%. I was just hanging out at the local park in the late afternoon. Got down on my knees to get the shooting angle I wanted.
