    Default Northern Pintail

I photographed this pintail at Bosque del Apache a couple of months ago. I had just pulled into the loop and had my camera in my lap when I saw this pintail coming in for a landing. I had no time to do anything but point and shoot (so to speak). I got lucky with this frame.

    Canon 1D Mark III, 500mm + 1.4x, f/5.6, 1/4000, ISO 400, no flash, handheld

I don't think you could have planned this any better. The beautiful colors in the wings is all showing and the feather detail is great.

Beautiful capture, even if it was a point and shoot! But then, a point and shoot shot only works when you have the experience and know-how to capture the image when opportunity arises. Gorgeous pose, framing and detail.
