Terrific Frank. IQ is great, and I really like the BG -- is that grasses reflected in water? Good low angle, and he posed for you very nicely.

Beautiful bg and bird, Frank. I like his dirty bill, lets us know what he is doing.

I really like the sharpness, setting, background, and low angle. I wish the bird was looking more towards you for a better head angle, and I'd probably tone down the whites ever so slightly.

    Hi Frank

Nice BG and color; bird is good too. IMO needs mor space at base for Vfeet.
In particular I am interested in that BG effect have you "brushed it" in some way - very paintingesque (is that a word?)

Richard, the BG is not "brushed" but reeds, reflected in the water.

Wonderful light, bird, and habitat. Needs a bit more room below and in front.... I'd lose the brightest bit of thick grass right below the bill and maybe the three thin dark strands of grass as well. The head angle is not bad--it needs just a bit more head turn towards you. And yes, painterly....

Thank you and also for the tips, it helps me a lot. I've edited some more grass, more place is right unfortunately, the bird was too close.

The original was good, but the repost is great! I'd consider toning down the brightest area of grass in the RLC.

Simple changes to original Frank but made a noticeable improvement to a very nice image. I'd take the time and add a bit to bottom and perhaps right for proportions. Very well done.
