Nothing fancy, just a bird on a stick. The background is grass growing in a field and I did offer her the perch and some worms.

A simple pretty image. I like the alert look back pose and the size of the perch with the toes wrapped around the branches is a nice touch.

Such a pleasing capture, Grace. The colors all work well together. The angle is great, as is the perch. Simple and elegant is how I would describe it.

    Wonderful image, Grace.
Really nice DOF at 5.6, sharp throughout and the BG is superb.

Another lovely image, Grace. Hoping to get up to Montana this spring and get some shots at them, but I don't expect to do anything as perfect as this. It's terrific. I love the posture, perch, BG, comp -- and especially the wonderful gentleness of the image. Thanks for this one.

This is the classic, elegant look I am always looking for in my perched bird shots. The muted colors are lovely. Appropriate sized perch that is simple and doesn't overpower the bird and allows the small details , such as the feet, to be seen. Nice HA and IQ. The detail is so good I can see the individual tufts of feathers around the beak. Nice clean "Artie certified" BG!
I really like this one Grace,

How to make a bird on a stick into art. Beautiful job, Grace. Elegant is the word (which applies to so many of your images). HA, colors, detail, BG, this has it all. I have one probably dumb question--did you really literally offer her worms somehow?

This is excellent Grace! I love it all, the perfect ha, the perch, exp. and sharpness are right on. The bg compliments the bird perfectly. Simply excellent.

Excellent! I want to experiment with mealworms this year and this image really adds to that urge. Beautifully simple...or simply beautiful, both work

Grace, beautiful shot...not easy in a non-setup situation. Well done positioning your car for that angle and BG. liked the perch and nice details throughout.

Thank you all for your kind words on this image. A few of you asked some questions so I'm answering here rather than pm's. It was taken in a horribly ugly industrial complex. There is a woods, a very small opening with beautiful tall grasses in it, and then a barbed wire fence atop a chain link. I noticed several weeks ago that there were several blue birds that would fly from the woods to the barbed wire. So I decided to try and see if instead of them perching on the barbed wire I could get them to perch on something that I put out, using the grass as a bg. I bought meal worms from a pet store (By the reptiles in a refrig) and put them on a small stool in front of a tripod that I clamped a perch to. Then angled my car and waited them out. Took several trips. I did get questioned by a policeman as to what I was doing and he was gracious and let me stay.

    Thanks again.
