From the "It's a Very Small World" department ...
OK, I had to share this and I hope you all will excuse the lack of images.
When I logged onto BPN yesterday, I saw a post from Jim Kranick - someone I hadn't seen here before. For some reason, the name rang a bell. 31 years ago, before I went to medical school, I worked in NY state as a clinical chemist. One of my friends in the lab where I worked was named Pauline Kranick and her hubby was named Jim. I haven't seen them since I left in 1981. The Jim on BPN is in Florida but, just to be wierd, I dropped him a PM to ask if there was any chance ...
Sure enough, it's the same Jim Kranick. They retired to Fla and Jim took up bird photography (I wasn't a bird photographer at that time either).
Talk about a very microscopic (to quote Pauline) world! And this reunion was thanks to BPN!

Ian, just you don't LOVE it when that happens? I have found that photography generally brings a lot of similar minded people together, and I really like that part of it.

Ian,
Just saw this post. When you sent me the PM I wondered why I thought your name might be familiar. Thanks for sending it.
When we moved down the big Florida birds in the back pond really caught my eye. My Minolta A2 did not do the job and as they say "the rest is history." After a few years my old love of landscapes (MF & LF just over 50 years ago) was rekindled. I then posted about perhaps using a 5D2 for landscapes and thankfully you saw it.
But a warning, Pauline is looking for some photos from 1980 or so
Jim Kranick

Cool!!! I also love how this wonderful artform-cum-hobby brings people together.
