Default Mute Swans are bigger than kinglets

    Greetings, friends!
While snitching on kinglets the other day I noticed a good swanface in the most forthcoming light and so took a happy headshot. 7D, 70-300L at 300mm. iso400, 1/1000, f13. What a bird!
The picture you see here has been cropped slightly. Levels tweak, usm. Pictures like this one are easily taken and are thusly "a dime a dozen" in the books of many people. Not mine, though! Many thanks for your consideration; I cozily await your fine ideas!

    Jack,

Not a dime a dozen in my book - still have not seen this guy in person. Very nice colors and love those water droplets.

Jack, I have photographed them a lot as well. good exposure and details in blacks. nice BG. If mine, I'd include more neck and trade some from the top...bring eye closer to the rule-of-thirds line.

Many thanks, Kaustubh! I've yet to consider the rule-of-thirds (except perhaps subconsciously) but I'll tell you this: if I had more neck, I'd use it! This is pretty much what's available to me...it was a very quick snap. Your comments are insightful, and they're appreciated by y.t.
