    Default Alone in the airport

This little woman has fascinated me since I snapped her in the San Franciso airport. In the midst of all the hustle and busyness, surrounded by "moderns" she was there all by herself in her traditional dress alone in her own world, waiting for a plane. I put it in BW with a slight bit of level adjustment and small bit of cloning of distracting stuff, but she really stood out in her white solitude.

This shot has a bizarro look that I don't even understand. I like it very much! Hazel, will you enlighten me? How did you turn this into B&W? Seems like much more than a simple desaturation...I'd love to know. Anyhow: well done! To say the least!

Basically, she stood out in her white so much that all I did was some levels adjust and selective color (black) adjust. I used the paintbrush at about 3% black to tone down some areas like the fluorescent lights in the ceiling, etc. I think that the fact that she was in the all white made her catch my eye.

Hazel, I remeber this one. Nice idea to go B&W with this one, she does stand out! I might be tempted to crop the lady on the left edge out but that might give you a square comp. so I might darken her slightly, not sure I would have to see.

This is odd-when I tried to remove one of the words "darken" it took both of them out???

I've wanted to take photos of people in airports, but never have the nerve to do so. Good for you! She does stand out in her white. Nice job.

Anita, you do it like a tourist . Select your subject, then point your camera in a lot of different directions like you're taking photos of the airport and just "happen" to point it her way as one of those shots. Since no one is really recognizable, I think it's ok....a lot like a crowd shot taken by a tourist.

    Hazel,

Greetings. Very cool image. I particularly like the B&W contrast and subject contrast concept. Good show!

    Cheers,

Very nice image and application, Hazel.

Like it as is. But if it were mine I might try to tone down the white walls and window areas on the top of the image. I like Topaz Lens Effect for this, with their ND adjustment. But it is also great as is!
