Default 5D Mark III Takes Center Stage!!!

I got a chance to spend a little time with my 5D III yesterday. Here's a Wood Duck for your viewing pleasure. A little clone work to the water above the bird.

Hey now! That is a very pretty flight shot! To my eye the whites on the face and bill are a little hot? Also: hand-holding the 500mm (+1.4) is an amazing feat and I am in awe of you and others who can do this! Nice shot indeed...

    Great Shot!
I love the colors and the smoothness. Definitely sharp enough for me.
The background is great too. I don't know how it could be better.
    Thanks for sharing.

Lovely IQ with a great BG. It appears that the 5DIII is a winner.

Have you had enough time to give us a quick AF review?

Very nice shot indeed....could not expect anything less from you. I'm looking forward to hear what you think about the 5DMKIII in general and especially for BIF photography.

Hi Doug, good flying angle and flight posture, and you have exposed the colours nicely. Overall sharpness is spot on, and I like that there is no noise visible.

What are your initial thoughts about this model?

Just out for a stroll, trying out a new camera and snapped this one?
Great IQ, 3D looking and very nice wing position and pose.

I really like the pose with full wings down and very slight banking action. Water color is very complimentary.
No pressure but I'll third "the looking forward to your camera opinion" comment as well.

Another hand-held big-lens winner! Perfect flight angle and wing position.

Anxious to read your thoughts on the 5d3. I see one in my future but was allowing it to be thoroughly vetted.....

Doug, excellent subject angle. this camera should be very handy for BIF when birds are close and especially for birds where you have lots of dark and bright areas like this one. Dynamic range must be very good, I am assuming. you've handled the harsh light pretty well.

I've only gotten to used the 5D III for a couple of hours, and I chose a single AF setting. Just a handful of flight opportunities, so I can't really help you yet. But I'm hoping to do some more with the camera in the next few days.
