    Default Rough-legged Hawk

This Rough-legged hawk was in Hadley last month and in this image was just lifting off. A mostly overcast day but with a few brighter spots in the sky. This was processed using the Snap-Art 3 impasto filter; using a mask I let some of the face and flower details show through, trying to get the bird to fly out of the canvas. Original photo with 1DM3, 700 mm, ISO 800, f/5.6, 1/400 sec.

    C&C greatly appreciated!

A beautiful flight pose and rendition. I love the inclusion of the perch. Nicely done!

letting the face and beak show through helps give a grounding and specific focal point...good idea.
