Default The burning fires of Hamilton

Hi lo yo, birdmachines...while standing on the beach among the tagged and sleeping trumpeter swans in Burlington, ONT., I took some pictures of hazy industrial Hamilton across the water. I had great fun playing with this image, trying to turn it into something more graphical and vaguely reminiscent of the illustrations from my much-cherished antique illustrated engineering textbooks. Anyhow, I will welcome your comments and suggestions and ideas and thoughts. Many thanks for your consideration...spring is almost here...

    Hello Jack,

I think you could improve this image by deleting the cast; Use Photoshop B&W conversion; Brightness and Contrast and adjust with Photoshop Selective Colors (BLK, Neutral & White). It also needs noise reduction and sharpening. Not knowing your vision, that would be my suggestion.

Attached is a quick example of the above changes. However, as we say ... Your image ... Your vision.

Hi Mark, that's very nice, but what I was going for was the presented image, i.e., the grain and the cast, etc etc. As always, there's no accounting for taste, and I certainly do appreciate your version and think it looks very nice indeed. Many thanks for your consideration...

Jack, I think that the grain and the color cast add to the look of an old postcard type image. I might tone down the color cast just slightly if it were mine. Maybe a sliver more room on the bottom.

Hi Jack, I like the effect you achieved for the old Stelco steel plant. I would also like to see a little more on the bottom.

Many thanks Denise & Andrew. I'll try that...some more water, o yes.
