Default How to bring back a lens from South Africa to Canada ?

    Good day,

I'm looking for a economical way to have a large telephoto lens brought from South Africa back to Canada.
Would anyone have suggestions to do so ? Typical courrier quotes are completely ridiculous (600$+).
I'd much prefer to bring it back myself, but don't currently have the opportunity to fly to S/A.

    Thanks for the help!

    Stephane

Best option is probably to find someone (tourist) traveling to Canada and pay them a fee to bring it over?
Why did you leave it here?

    Hi Morkel :-)

It is actually a lens I am acquiring, so I did not "leave it there"...
I am currently lookoing into freight companies. I would have much preferred someone handing it carry on, but do not have anyone I am aware of at this time that is coming this way.

    Cheers - Steph

Lensrentals.com packs their lenses in the lens carrying case surrounded by bubble wrap then inside a small backpack, more bubble wrap then a sturdy cardboard box....they ship via UPS, surely that wouldn't cost $600 would it?
