    Default Ruins of St. Paul's

Well, our current weekly theme is allowing me to process and post some of my travel photos... here is one from Macau! This is the ruin of St Paul's Cathedral which was destroyed in a fire in 1835. Only the front stone façade exist. I remember waiting for an hr to get an image without any people and this was the best I could get! For processing, I used the same technique of blurring the people... in this case I used two different blurs - motion and Gaussian to reflect relative movement or if they are stationary. Adjusted the perspective and also used a bit of Simplify to hide some of the blemishes on the façade along with Topaz adjust/HDR for the sky. Hope you like it...

Hello Indranil...I like the fact that there are some but not too many people in your image. ......the blur worked nicely and adds some life to the image. Nice work!

Indranil, you have the blur done perfectly. I wish there were a little more foreground for them to walk into. It looks like an interesting place to visit

Great job on the blurring and processing Indranil. I agree with Cheryl on wishing for a bit more foreground.

Indranil, Not sure if you have any room top or bottom. I am loving your blurred people images, great idea and so effective!

Glad to see some of your travel photos! Your way of handling people works quite well. I wish the one man in lower right didn't have a white shirt as it pulls my eye to him. I might crop a bit off the left and add some canvas to the top. Nice processing on the facade!

A beautiful ruin well captured. Do you know when it was originally built?

Thanks all. I appreciate it. I agree it need a bit more space. This was full frame @17mm. I did have few other images with a bit more foreground and here is a repost extending the front and adding canvas on the top. I also darkened selectively white shirt just as Anita suggested...

Hi Mitch, according to Wikipedia the Cathedral was built between 1582 and 1602. The stone facade was an add-on and carved between 1620 and 1627 by Japanese Christians in exile from their homeland and local craftsmen. Here is the link.

Indranil, the repost is great and thanks for the Cathedral information - that is very neat.
