Default Some fine beachbound friends at f22

    Hi!
It's my pleasure to post this picture for your visual perusal, right here and now! Snapping gulls at f22 brings out a certain graphical look to them, I feel. I also enjoy what the small aperture does to the water, the beach clutter, etc. The light was forthcoming on this day and I took many different pictures of many different ring-billed gulls. Being somewhat subject-deprived in Toronto has helped to foster my love for this common and pesky species! The bird placement and bird actions in this picture are far from perfect, obviously, but there are things about this picture that appeal to me, that's for sure. I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments and ideas.
    yours in pious wonderment,

Hello Jack, I agree about the graphic look and I am a big fan of "graphic/organic" looks. I feel that the two birds in the top of the image pull the eye away from the main group and I would evict them. Maybe crop a bit from the top also. I like the feel of the image, the wind must have been at your back.

Hi Jack....I think I like it as presented....not sure why but I think I like the gulls in the bg. I will have to try f22 on some gulls next time I am subject deprived!

I am even more radical, I would remove all 3 gulls that are not standing on shore, I'd crop the image so the gulls are in the middle between shore and water.

Ok, I am getting carried away........

I love the sharpness and that all the gulls are looking at the camera, did I say, nice sharpness but I'd still remove the gulls...

Interesting ideas from the radicals...I'll certainly play around with that...I'd be inclined to keep the rightmost of the 3 waterfulls because I like the little water-crease in front of him. Or her! Who knows? Ladies or men, beats me...

Very nice image of the gulls, sharp and well exposed. I agree with Paul's radical advice. I think I might also evict some of the icky stuff floating in the water.

    Jack,

Great advice above. I like the idea of evicting the 2 back gulls, cropping some from the top and doing some beach clean up. I like the way they are all looking in the same direction and the image has an almost HDR grunge look to it. Nice!

Beautiful composition, Jack. Your f22 certainly paid off having all of them in focus... I like the whimsical look here with gull lined up towards to shore rather than facing the sea! Good suggestion above. Very nice and TFS.

Can't thank you enough, folks...I'm so glad you enjoyed the image and although I'm fond of the beach as-is I think I'll take your advice and evict 2 of the 3 seabound gulls...much appreciated...
