    Default Sandhill Chick

I have been shooting this pair of SHC chicks trying to get a shot that shows the tiny size of them by getting them in the flowers and shooting low. I got this one today while they were feeding by the pond. Just as mom walked enough to the right the clouds came out and softened the light.

Really nice Cheryl. I like the soft light and the flowers. I might be tempted to clone out the big loopy flower over the back near the tail. Nice clean BG. I really like the ultra low angle and the placement of the chick in the frame

A sweet shot that shows off not just a fine little squawker but also those lovely tiny daisies. Which kind are those? I'm stupid about flowers, and other things too. Anyhow, it's a very nice shot. FG and BG both appeal to me. I'm usually anti-cloning but agree with Gail RE that droopsy loopsy daisy. I think they're daisies, anyhow...

Funny how you don't see things sometimes till someone points them out. Thanks Gail I'm now on the fence about it. I think i may leave it since this image is super pure and perhaps may blend with the other droopy ones?

I really like your low perspective here, Cheryl. The wildflowers are a huge plus. I have no problem with the ones over his back. I wish the ones right around his face were not touching his face. If you could clear his face a little, I think it would make this capture more powerful.

Now those are the ones that bothered me. I thought of repositioning but I kew he would spook so I took my chances. I agree totally and could maybe go for just taking away the point of touch. Thanks girl.

Wonderful image. Excellent shooting angle, great pose, very nice soft light, and I love the flowers all around it. Repost is much better.
    Well done.

Adorable image that gets taken over the top by the repost. Love the way you got low, and the curve of the neck and direct gaze.

Repost much better with the cleaner area around the face. How is DeSoto? What time do they start collecting the 5%?

I will definitely head over there after I get back from Morro Bay.... I need a Laughing Gull fix. They are so gorgeous in breeding plumage. See you then.
