    Default Pied Cormorant... again.

    Hi Guys

A second shot of what I now think is a Pied Cormorant. Taken at the local marina last Sunday morning while he was busy hasseling fishermen by stealing their fish once they were hooked.. By the look of his condition I would say he/she has got pretty good at it..

As a self critique know the head angle is a little off but there is more space in the frame compared to the last, but feel free to tell me what you really think...

Hi Don. For me, head angle is not a big issue - I think it's a matter of what else is happening in the photo. I like the detail in the bird and the overall hi IQ. Gorgeous colours and patterns in the water. Plus a very nice subject. I wish the beak and head did not overlap the dark water section. A sparkle in the eye would add to the appeal. I am also not sure about the cutoff point of the neck reflection - I always struggle with where to draw the line - it may depend on what the crop has taken off. But, if mine, I think I would crop a bit off the right and bottom.

very nice pose and details, having the head turned slightly towards us would have improved this one further. the white area in the neck seems a bit hot. TFS

Very good IQ and exp., the colors in the water are great. I would rather see the bird more in the lrc.

I agree with Arash about HA and white on the neck, and with Jack in moving the cormorant more right of the frame. Great colours and smooth texture of the water, and the open bill is a nice bonus. I wouldn't be surprised if the image neede a bit of CW rotation (judging from the concentric circles).

Thanks for the input guys... I should have mentioned that this is full frame and I was unsure if it needed cropping or 'where to' if it did so I am grateful for the suggesions...
