Something different here.
Very cool, The BG color really suits the reptile.
Very nice.

This is really nice Rachel. Great depth and clarity. Just want to reach out into the screen and feel that skin. Wish he'd had his rear leg up towards his body so we could see more claw. I'd see about lightening up that dark leg in the BG just a bit. You've really been posting some good stuff and whatever you've changed in you workflow is really working well.

Hi Rachel, these guys are great characters, however they also have some not very tasteful habits too. Bet you had to watch where you stepped.
Great swimmers.
I like the posture, but would like to have had all off him/her in shot, or just a close-up and not cutting the rear off. I would look at reducing the Red overall as it brings out some more detail, plus adding some Curves, about 70% just to bring some more punch to it. If you need some guidance let me know and I will my thoughts.

Great detail and goop processing considering the light. I would have almost prefered a portrait crop just behind the front shoulder....

I agree with the above crop suggestions, Rachel. Love the low angle here (I assume you got dirty?) and the soft light.
Steve makes a good point on the reds, might also look at the magentas (rocks upfront?)...

Vertical crop is IMHO better than the original. However, a horizontal crop of the original image just in front of the rear leg would also work.

Rachel,
Great capture , cropping this type of image is always a difficult choice, but I think I prefer the verical, which I might consider adding some canvas to the RHS
