    Does this work for anyone?

Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens with the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +1 stop off the ice: 1/1600 sec. at f/6.3 in Manual mode.

BTW, this is a Steller's Sea Eagle from my recent Japan trip. You can see some in the box images of this species here. And there is lots of Japan stuff, the sea eagles, Snow Monkey, Whooper Swans, and Red-crowned Cranes on the blog.

I think that if you cropped some from the top to just where the front wing bends. I added some Fractalius to the image because it seemed like more of a fun image. Hope you don't mind.

Artie, your image doesn't really work for me as posted, but it does present lots of OOTB possibilities. Here's a version I played with.

Hi Arthur, I like it, but think I prefer a crop from the left to evict the little slice of background above the neck and I also like Denise's crop, but again would rather see the bit of background cropped off. A very creative idea for this image.

Thanks Maureen. I love what you did with it. I would have liked to see a bit more room behind and below the clenched talon. Well done. Was this a Fract?

Artie, wonderful OOTB composition!! I like the concept but my preference is somewhere close to Maureen's crop combined with bit more room behind and bellow the talon just as you have said. The details are spectacular as is the colors and light.

Thanks, Artie. I used multiple layers of fract with various presets, topaz adjust and topaz B&W. As far as the comp is concerned, you're right of course. I think I was so focused on the feet I forgot to look at the image as a whole

Maureen's crop is my favorite. Nice fract work on both.

I agree with Indranil. You had a good idea to start with, and others came up with improvements that make this an image I can enjoy.

The weapons these birds have...wow. Are they as large as our eagles of bigger?
Interesting crop, Maureen did a good job. TFS
