This will not be for everybody but I like the teal reflection of the fishing boat in the water.

Gail, aren't these ducks black? This one looks purple.

    Hi Grace,
They are black and on my monitor he is black. Not sure why you and I would see such a difference. I didn't touch the colors in PP except to add black to the neutrals in selective color. I will wait to see if others see a purple color.

My original comment was made from my callibrated NEC monitor and I just looked at it on my uncalibrated Dell and the color still looks off. Will be interested on what others see. Been on my computer since 6 am so I'm not 100% trusting of my eye sight.

Nice wing flap, exposure, and love the flying drops. I definitely see purple too though, no question.

I also see the color looks a bit off. The Turquoise water is superb, although I am not sure you meant
To have it this color. Keep the BG color and fix the bird and it would be very nice.

I reduced the purple ( very difficult actually) by adding +4 to the blacks in CS5 and in LR3 reducing the purple in hue to -100. I moved the saturation slider down to -100 in the purple slider but that didn't make any difference. Would appreciate any advice on the best way to reduce purple in blacks. Could this be color noise?

Gail I would go back to the start and check your white balance. It still doesn't look right and i think something basic is going astray. maybe one of the better photoshoppers on the forum will weigh in.

Hi Gail, welcome back, and hope you had fun. Ok, I dont know this species, but I do see the 'purple\magenta' on the chest area. Here is my version. I selected just the head and chest area, and did one round of desaturating the magenta in saturation by -100, and two rounds off desaturating the reds in saturation by -100 each round. I then selected the lower part of the chest area ( white plumage ) and desaturated the reds in saturation by -100, which brought out the whites a little 'whiter. Im not sure if I have achieved the correct colour of this duck.

PS. I could have added blacks in selective colour as well, but have left as is.

Real nice shot. Great timing, love the water drops, great detail, love the water color, and I think your repost took care of the problem.
    Very well done.

Hmmmm not sure now what I see. I see a purpleish pink in the whites but the body looks brown. Repost looks better. Nice wing flap I only wish to see the other eye or more of a head turn to not see the other side at all. Sorry stuart but I think the body looks better but the wings look pink to me.

    Hey Gail,
Nice timing and repost looks better. I think the boat color throws this off a bit as the duck looks pretty good to me......but I'm whipped too!

I quite like it Gail, gives the sense of having a nice time.

Just my take but took the liberety of:
    - Adjusting the Levels, more depth/detail in the neck plumage & darker areas of the wing RH side as viewed.
    - Removing the 'magenta cast', Stuarts to me looked as if it was carrying a bit of green in the whites of the chest, sorry Stu.

    Hope it helps.

Thank you all for your help. Steve's repost nailed it! The blacks are perfect. Can you tell me exactly what you did Steve? Did you use LR or CS5 for removing the magenta? What exactly did you do in levels?
    Many thanks,
    Gail
PS Stuart- no worries and no need for apologies!
