Spent the morning looking for Barred Owls and was able to get this image at first light not sure whats up with the breast feathers this was the only Owl I saw that looked this ragged.

1d MKIII, 500 f/4 + 1.4TC, 1/50s at f/7.1, Evaluative Metered-1/3, Aperture priority, Raw, ISO 400, Tripod, Loved this image on the LCD but when I got home was disappointed I did not leave enough room on the bottom for the virtual tail so added canvas and went to work with the clone stamp if you look closely I am sure you can find some repeating patterns
Also since I believe in full discloser this owl was called and worked with for about 15 minutes.

I believe that the bird is wet. Why so wide? A narrower crop eliminates the distracting stuff on the right frame edge. Sharp with lots of nice habitat. The light area was distracting... Repair a bit on the sloppy side to give you the idea....

He looks wet and tired. Sharp and I like the moss.

He does look sad. :( I really like it though and you did good with the canvas. I would like a crop less than yours but more than Arties
