    Default Red-legged Honeycreeper

The hotel manager at one of the lodges we visited this year had a home garden teeming with incredible birds. He was kind enough to let us photograph there. This Red-legged Honeycreeper was a regular visitor during our time at his house. We'll be going there again on next year's workshop, which I'll be announcing in the next week or so.

That is as blue as it gets! I can imagine that this is a hard exposure to get right, you have done well. Great perch, HA, sharpness, BG. Nice flash work.

Nice, Doug! That's the type subject that knocks your socks off when it jumps into you viewfinder! Great all around. I would remove the little filament coming into the frame near the LRC, to fine, fine tune this post.

Swoon worthy bird, colors and image, Doug. Excellent all around. Might like to see the breast just a touch brighter.
May have to get down there on your workshop one of these years!

Wow Doug, what a bird! Great perch and BG too. Did the hotel manager let you create setups or was this branch already there?

Hi Doug, how are those blues. With so many blues to choose from, they had to call this guy - red - legged. Good use of subtle fill flash, and you had a great smooth BG.

Thanks Daniel. We 'borrowed' a branch from the garden and used a natural BG.
