I know some of you love to see something different so heres a possible new one to the forum

I have only seen this bird once in 3 years walking the trails in CA, and I was suprised to see how small it was in real life just 5 inches, so hummer sized!(name is xenops minutus!)

Captured here in Matapalo, Osa Peninsula , CR at the Encanta Da Vida Lodge

50 CROP, levels NR and SS; cloned out blurred log TR
    7d 100-400 f 5.6 ISO 800 1/160 from tripod on house deck
there seem to be very few pics of this species around

Richard, what an awesome little guy - i've never seen nor heard of him before. beautiful detail on his wing and tail, and very interesting head and bill. That is a great piece of wood he is on too.

Great that you found him. My book says he is 4.25 inches so makes him even harder to see. Congratulations for adding a new and not often photographed bird to your collection.

Interesting bird, different colors too. Does look like you have a little head movement, was it pecking as you shot it?

Neat bird. Slight additional crop. Aggressively sharpened only the face, head, and wings then lightened same a bit. The oof vegeetation in front of the tree is a bit distracting....
