    Default One Last Short-eared Owl

From April last year and same owl as I posted a day or two ago. The little owl had first moved from the previous position 90 deg. to my left and a bit closer for more photos. Then for this, it moved another 90 degrees and closer for this portrait. Cropped from a horizontal. I think the diffused light really worked to my advantage for what would have been a back lite subject on a sunny day.

I would be so happy to have this one in my files, the eyes are wonderful. I suspect that you may have a little more detail in some of the whites on and around the face and on this monitor I feel like a slight contrast boost might be in order. The soft background could not be any prettier.

Hi Dave, super portrait, and the eye contact with those yellow eyes is special. The sharpness around the face is spot on, and I do like the softer BG. An opportunity well used.

Good work Dave specially with the overall exposure and details on the face. Those yellow eyes completely stand out in the picture. I had the opportunity to spend some time these beautiful birds last year when they had started their annual migration to parts of Asia (Rann of Kutch) and it was wonderful. These guys are special and so is this image.
