Sow Grizzly hunting elk during one of last years private workshops. This type of action usually happens with only the faintest light so I was happy to get what I could of this hunt.
I am sure pixel peepers will find plenty of noise here but the behaviour is just to unusual to lose in spite of the late evening light.

Hi Jess, initial thoughts are to reduce the Blue overall and if you have applied any NR, then do not apply it to the Elk(?) and then give another round of sharpening to the bear & Elk. In two minds about the female in the bottom RHC, certainly cleaner without it, but it also gives a feeling that you are part of the image too.

I see the SS was 1/500 not 1/400 ISO 1600 and you are using a Canon MKIV

Hi Jess, very cool scene. The noise reduction was the first thing I noticed... after I appreciated the scene. It looks like the NR was applied to the overall image which has made it look a tad soft.

I can only agree with the above regarding the colour, NR and adding some sharpening to the parts of the scene that matter, Jess!
I like the OOF elk in the bottom LHC.
I would also consider taking some off the top.

Good suggestions above. I like the inclusion of the oof elk in the llc, sort of makes us feel as if we are part of the scene.

I like the processing. It has a nice soft feel.
I don't like the OOF elk in the lower left at all, if it was sharp, it would have worked for me.
Interesting and well worth posting, wish I was there!

    Hi Jess
    lovely image
I thought the image just needed some correction in curves... like composition as it is..tells a story... find your copyright a bit distracting

Like the soft hazy look of the BG. The OOF elk doesn't bother me, feels like I'm with her watching the action but would work as well if she wasn't there.
