    Default Townsend's Warbler Male

Backyard, perch supplied by me. Perch angled a little differently than the female to try to get both feet in focus (rear one slightly off). Tail was let go -- its out of depth of field

Beautiful Don, the clean background and perch allow your subject to really pop. I suspect that my work monitor might be diminishing the details that I can see in the yellow of his head.

Hi Don, striking yellows on this fellow, and he certainly does pop from the BG. I feel the overall IQ is quite not there, maybe your slow ss has let you down.

Lovely pose and bg. Following up on Stuart's IQ comment perhaps a bit more sharpening is called for.

I'll have to recheck this one when I get home tonight -- the post isn't what I saw on my monitor in the pre-post version.

Beautiful pose, bird, perch, and BKGR but I must agree with the others; the head not nearly as sharp as in the female. Please let us know what's up.

Spent Sunday trying to reproduce this effect -
Appears the jpg was created with the sharper bird layer turned off - my mistake as I'd just run some minor NR and Gaussian blur on the background and didn't switch it back on for this 1024 size. That's as near as I can tell as history wasn't kept by CS5.
But looking at the larger projection 1400 x y version made just before the 1024, the head does show a very slight head movement -- just before the bird leaves the perch. Its veryy slight - I didn't note it when choosing the best one. for this reason, I'm not going to repost this one even with the jpg made with the sharpened bird layer turned on. I have several others I will work on tomorrow.
    Thanks all for the input.

Super lookin species! love the clean BG and pose but I would prefer to see a perch with more character.
