    Default More Yosemite!

Here is another image from Yosemite... this is the Merced river drop from top of Nevada falls as the water goes over and then on to Vernal falls. One need to hike up both these falls to get this view. Converted to b&w and used adjustment layers with masks for selective contrast boost. Hope you like it...

Dynamic, with awesome water energy, Indranil! Well worth the hike. Would love to spend more time in Yosemite. My first impression was that it might be a little dark overall, but perhaps you were aiming at strong shadows with your contrast adjustments. In any case it makes a very strong statement as it is an impressive image and a wonderful composition.

Indranil, I like the view! It must have been a great hike. Nice job with the conversion and I like the strong look here. Maybe a teeny tiny sliver more room on top.

I like the perspective, hope you were standing on a bridge....would not have wanted to fall in. Nice composition, well done

Great perspective, looking over the falls, Indranil. Even if I were on a bridge, I think my knees would be knocking a bit getting that shot. Nice B&W, and like texture and churn to the water and contrast to surrounding landscape.

Very nice image and application, Indranil.

That is a great hike, but I didn't get to the top. Nice to see what I missed there.

Hi Indranil, well worth the hike. A beautiful view, Denise makes a good suggestion for a little more on top if you have it. Nicely processed!

Thanks Steve. As a fan of Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell, I went with their style of landscape using strong shadows in creating the separation between the water the distant mountains.

Thanks Denise, I will keep that in mind next time I hike up there

Thanks Paul. There is a railing just at the water edge. I leaned over it to take this image. There have been more fatalities on Vernal falls below where the current is much stronger. Last summer three folks were swept away and killed after climbing the rails and slipping into the water. Sad indeed! :(
