Default A Snowy Owl for Todd

    Attached Images Attached Images

This is a tribute to the late Todd Frost. RIP Todd.

Todd shared many memories with Steve and I yesterday from the 7 trips he made up to the Vancouver area to photograph the snowy owls. I thought a local tribute might be a nice touch.

I made this image as the sun set on a cold evening back in February.

Fitting tribute indeed. Beautiful light and detail. Might take a bit off the bottom as I find the stump and the oof foreground a bit overpowering.

very nice, I like the light and pose nice perch and BG. crop is a bit too loose and a slight head turn would make it even better

Fitting tribute Jamie. loved the light here. terrific environmental image. such compositions are not easy. Something that most of us who are focal length challenged should be striving for. loved that large perch and those grasses in the BG.

Very well done, Jamie, and a fitting tribute it is. I really like the crop as is and just love the inclusion of all the environment. The light is stunning!

Agree with bit of over powering perch. Other than that I like every thing about it.

Thanks Arash, would you have preferred the HA to be more turned facing me? I don't typically go for eye to eye contact and prefer the subject to be glancing just passed me.

Thank you Kaustubh, this comp took at lot of work and patience and the sun was just about set when I got into a good position. I was low on the ground with the tripod low and had to slowly work my way forward. Being focal challenged makes you have to work harder sometimes.

    Thanks again folks

I did not have the good fortune to know Todd Frost or his work.
However, your picture Jamie is beutiful and I'm sure he would be pleased with it.

Hi Jamie, Todd would have liked that.

I feel at present I need to wait for a while like you, before visiting the images of that day. I will mark my respects for him on an appropriate day here on the Forum with a hopefully suitable image.
