Default Andean Cock of the Rock

It was an arduous three hour climb up to the Lek at about 8,200 feet in the Peņas Blancas mountains of Valle de Cauca department in Colombia but well worth the huffing and puffing! The birds arrive around four in the afternoon so the light is poor. My companion was using flash and he was able to shoot at 400 ISO. I didn't have a flash unit so risked shooting at 2000 ISO (it was quite a climb after all). The gray out of focus debri on the right is disturbing but I wanted to include the bird's environment. A tighter vertica crop of course eliminates that.

Superb image in it's environment. Love the details on the bird and colors.
