    Default Short-eared Owl

I am starting 2012 with LR3 and and wanted to share a final few from 2011. This one from last April and it has been stuck in my mind since taken. Not direct eye contact but.. It was a very cold, cloudy and windy day. The wind would blow the owl about and here the legs are revealed.
    7D, 500mm, 1/500, f/4, Av, ISO640, tripod.
A slight crop all around in same format and composition.

Beautiful texture and quality, the pose isn't ideal but I love the quality.

Nice composition, sharpness and details. It is great to see the legs. Surprisingly good DOF with f4.0.
I don't mind the side view at all. Great overall picture, David.

Excellent techs and great details Dave. Even with out good HA and eye contact that eye still kept my interest in the image. Very well done.

I like the pose and most everything about this.
If the DOF was just a bit more and the entire Owl as sharp as the head,
It would be off the charts.
    Very nice though, as is.

It looks like the cold, wind and cloud worked in your favour Dave. Sweet light and detail.

Excellent work here with detail and colour...eye contact is not always necessary in my view.

Such a fantastic image, Dave. I wouldn't be able to stop thinking of this either!

The owls body almost looks cartoon like here. I find it utterly captivating. Wouldnt change a thing.

I don't know from LR at all but I do know that this is a very sweet, special image with the soft light, the killer perch, and the blowing feathers. Sweet BKGR too.
