Beautiful quality image, perhaps just a little tight in the frame, I don't know if I would perhaps consider increasing contrast or adjusting curves a little bit.

I like the variety of textures of all the feathers that are so well shown in this preening pose. Lots of interest.

Lovely detail and lighting Bill. Nice pose and preening action. I would add a bit more room on both sides.

Hi Bill, you certainly have produced great IQ in this image. Just love the light and detail, and have always enjoyed looking at these brown pelicans. They always seem to have lots to look at. I can see where you were going with your comp, but I feel it is too tight on either side. I would create a horizontal, with a hint of the perch below.

Bit tight for me also otherwise fab, the detail is superb; some really pleasing angles in there, great eye for composition!

Appeciate the comments. Shot vertical, and too tight. Agree it needs more right/left space and I did add some (I guess not enough) by using CA fills. I'm not sure about horizontal format though. Although I rarely use a square format, since there is no stong vertical or horizontal orientation in this image, and it may have been my best bet. Thanks

F8 was perfect for this shot. Ton of detail, love the old piling perch, BG is great.

Beautiful portrait and details, Bill. Just a gorgeous image. I would slightly move the Curves or Levels to darken it just a bit.

Bill, I like the comp. as presented. Its a tricky one due to the pose. Since the bird is looking down, I like the amount of perch you have included. terrific details and great job positioning yourself.
